Lessons and Carols

This year our Advent Service of Lessons and Carols will be held at 10 a.m. on Sunday, December 16.  Turkey dinner and all the trimmings to follow at noon!  

The Hangin' o' the Greens!

Join the community on Saturday afternoon, December 1 to decorate the church for Christmas.  Fun, fellowship and hot chocolate included!

Time: 1:00 - 3:00 p.m.

The Work of Our Hands: Reflections on the Spirituality of Handwork

Bring a bag lunch and your favourite repetitive handwork.

This could include knitting, crochet, embroidery, needlepoint, spinning, weaving, mending, hemming, binding quilts, sewing buttons, darning, ironing, polishing silver, making cards, wrapping gifts, sorting photos into albums, addressing greeting cards, wood-working, adding stamps to your stamp collection, drawing/painting, beading, journalling...anything that can be done 'by rote' and without heavy equipment, heat or flame.  :-)

Try the 'finger labyrinth'.

Tea, coffee, juice, water, muffins and other snacks provided.

There will be opportunities for private confession and the sacrament of reconciliation, and the day will end with Eucharist.

Sundae Sunday!

It's Sundae Sunday (alias "Welcome Back! Sunday") at St. Cyprian's this weekend -- Sunday, September 23.  Time to bring the kids and grandkids back to Sunday School, and to take part in the "What Would You Preach On?" Lectionary study at 9 a.m. (before the 10 a.m. service).

Bonus!  This is Sunday #4 in the month, so music will be provided by the guitar trio of Dwight, Alison and Marg.

Come one, come all!  Bring your friends! Study and hear the Word, sing God's praise, and savour the delights of a make-your-own sundae bar!

Cresting the hill

We have about made the half-way mark through Lent. We've crested the hill and are on the walk down towards Holy Week and Easter. Time flies! Sharon's sermon on Sunday has us thinking about the seeds we should be planting in the "tobacco cans" of our hearts (remembering her childhood on the farm!). Seeds of hope, appreciation, sharing our faith are a few - in our woolly theology group we added acceptance, patience, and kindness.
Something else to ponder, quietly, during a quiet day for example, is prayer. In our quiet day on March 24 we will be making our own book of hours as we contemplate the 7 times of the day that have been traditional prayer times.
