The following conditions will help in deciding if St. Cyprian’s is the right place for your
wedding.
- Weddings are subject to the availability of the priest;
- To be married in the Anglican Church, either the bride or the groom must be a baptized Christian;
- The Canons (laws) of the Anglican Church require that at least 60 days notice be given prior to performing a wedding;
- The couple is required to take a marriage preparation course. The Beginnings Marriage Preparation Course sponsored by Family Services of Central Alberta is one option for couples. This is a two-day program (Friday evening and all day Saturday) at a cost of approximately $125 per couple. The course is offered throughout the year and registration is required. - The couple must meet at least twice with the priest in the months leading up to the wedding;
- The Anglican Church/Diocese of Calgary requires additional paperwork for a marriage where either or both the bride and groom have been divorced; please allow extra time for this.
- The marriage service uses the Celebration and Blessing of a Marriage as found in the Anglican Book of Alternative Services (p. 528); couples do not write their own vows;
- The Fire Department has determined the seating capacity of the church as 120. The priest has no authority to perform same-sex weddings;
- The fee for a wedding at St. Cyprian’s is: $250 for the church (waived for members), and
$150 for priest services; musician/organist is extra.
