Update from PWRDF -- on Help to Ukraine

When Russia invaded Ukraine, many of our parishioners directed their donations to the Primate's World Relief & Development Fund (PWRDF) to support aid to Ukraine. Attached is a report of how our donations played a role in the work being done thus far -- and still needed. (Note: this is a pdf document.)

A Prayer for Good Friday

God, draw me to the cross, there to stand with the others whose love for you feels the weight of it as loss, as grief. Your enemies thought they could end what you were doing, and render you powerless. Little did they know that love never fails. Show me again the truth of all that happened here. AMEN.

A Blessing for Maundy Thursday

a Maundy Thursday blessing in deep distress

o God,
i am overwhelmed with grief
and too tired to cry.

o God,
i need to hear you
say my name.

God have mercy.
Christ have mercy.
Spirit have mercy.

o my creator,
speak me back into being
show me the bonds of love
that formed me
that hold me
let them be as iron
that enters my soul

blessed are we who see
that this present darkness
it is not all there is

blessed are we
who look for the one
this Jesus
dressed as a servant
who washes my feet

blessed are we who say
i am known
i am loved
i can love again

I have loved you
with an everlasting love.
Jeremiah 31:3

God have mercy.
Christ have mercy.
Spirit have mercy.

Hush child. Let me hold you.
You are mine.

Psalm 118: 1-2, 19-29

A Blessing for Palm Sunday

They ran eagerly, spreading their cloaks on the road as Jesus came,

waving palm branches and shouting

“Hosanna! Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord.”

This surely would signal the beginning of their deliverance,

and the ending of their oppression, sorrow, and shame.

What’s this? No mighty horse or chariot?

Only a man riding a lowly donkey,

His feet almost grazing the ground as He makes His way

to Jerusalem,

and to the mystery

that it would be through suffering that healing comes,

through His shame, that dignity is restored,

and through His cross that powers are disarmed,

and death done away with

forever.

Blessed are we, even here in the shadow of our unknowing,

where the light of His glory slants low on our path,

because for now there is hope and beauty and love.

and for this moment anyway, it is enough.

 AMEN.
