Audio Divina for Canada's Birthday

A musical poet for Ordinary Time...jazz pianists Oscar Peterson and Oliver Jones play Peterson's Hymn to Freedom. Written in 1962 in support of the Civil Rights Movement, this piece continues to speak to us today.

When every heart joins every heart and together yearns for liberty,
That's when we'll be free.
When every hand joins every hand and together moulds our destiny,
That's when we'll be free.
Any hour any day, the time soon will come when men will live in dignity,
That's when we'll be free.
When every man joins in our song and together singing harmony,
That's when we'll be free.

NOTE: As of April 9, 2023, the Parishes of St. Cyprian's, Lacombe and St. John's, Olds, resumed receiving wine at Eucharist from the common cup. If this is uncomfortable for you, please know that you can accept the wafer of bread and then simply touch the base of the chalice of wine, and be deemed to have received the sacrament in both kinds. Coffee hour has been restored at St. Cyprian's parish, with a bit of distancing at the tables. Masks are optional, and a matter of personal choice, including during corporate singing.

Please continue in prayer for leaders at all levels, facing difficult decisions every day, for all on the front lines of health care and emergency response, for all facing illness of any kind, and/or grieving the loss of loved ones for any reason.
