March 19 marks the Feast of St. Joseph, earthly father of Jesus. Today in the UK has also been named "Red Nose Day" -- a day on which people are charged with the task of making someone smile, whether by comic relief (hence the wearing of red noses) or by engaging -- where able -- in light-hearted sports or games.
Dean Robert Willis of the Cathedral in Canterbury has woven these themes together in his Morning Prayer reflections in the Deanery Gardens this morning. May his readings, thoughts and prayers in the video below bless your day. 😊
Collect for St. Joseph of Nazareth*
O God,
from the family of your servant David
you raised up Joseph
to be the guardian of your incarnate Son.
Give us grace to follow him
in faithful obedience to your commands;
through Jesus Christ our Lord,
who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit,

I offer it to you here for your interest and perhaps your reflection...CLICK HERE.

St. David in stained glass Castle Coch, Cardiff, Wales Designer: William Burges Source: Wikipedia
Today is St. David's Day, a day to celebrate the life of a man who was born in southwest Wales, and grew up to found a monastery in Pembrokeshire; his life was such that he was canonized, and became the Patron Saint of Wales. The day is celebrated with great fanfare, parades, special foods (see the recipe below), recitations and, of course, singing -- for which the Welsh are reknowned.
In the Before-COVID Time, if Alison and Margaret found themselves leading worship in song at the Parish of St. Cyprian's on the Sunday closest to March 1, they would usually include a hymn in the repertoire to honour the day. Remembering those times, with hopes for next year...your Editor offers this powerful rendition of one of the hymns that is used to mark this Feast of St. David, sung here in both English and Welsh by the congregation and choirs of Tabernacle Welsh Baptist Church, Cardiff, Wales:
Collect for St. David
Almighty and everlasting God,
who in the heart of your servant David
kindled the flame of your love,
give us, your humble servants,
such faith and power of love,
that as we rejoice in his triumph,
we may profit by his example;
through Jesus Christ our Lord,
who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit,
